Words Create Worlds

Yesterday my pastor said, “words create worlds.”
Let me say that again and let it sink in, “words create worlds.”

The Importance of Positive Self-Talk

I have transformed my life, career, dreams, goals and mindset with positive nourishing words. I have done a complete 180 in the past due to implementing positive self-talk. I talk aloud to myself because if I think something, say it and then hear the words it helps me remember and believe it.

I urge you to speak positive words aloud.

The Effects of Negative Self-Talk

I submitted 317 job applications around the country in 2013. I heard nothing back for months than I received 28 rejections via snail mail and 23 rejections in my email. All of these rejections were received within a 3 day period! I felt so defeated. However, what made this situation worse was my negative self-talk.

My spirit felt crushed. My mind turned against me. How could I possible succeed? I was stressed out and confused. I started to doubt all my decisions.

Turning Point

I could not change the situation nonetheless I had to change the negative self-talk. It was degrading my health and my energy levels. I was exhausted all the time and at the edge of losing faith in my abilities.

So I decided to thank God for my blessings, health, family, & friends. LOUDLY! I spoke aloud to drown out that horrible little voice in the back of my mind. I spoke positive words aloud multiple times a day until I started believing it.

Since I couldn’t find a job, I started a law firm. I was so scared to start that law firm but my back was against the wall, I had no choice. The weeks of positive self-talk bolstered my confidence and I pushed past the fear.

Words Create Worlds

I wrote this post to remind myself how powerful words are and how I am shaping my business with my mindset. Everyday I say aloud, “Ivy Interviews Africa will soon be a business and not a hobby.”

I know I can make it happen.

I’m glad the negative doubts didn’t suffocate you and you were able to push through that period and get back on to a positive footing. You are right though being positive does wonders to your spirit. I’m glad you are pursuing this as well! Giving Africans a powerful outlet to speak freely about their business and to promote themselves. Good Luck!
